EOC Week 10

EOC Week 8

There are many events that I can attend to get some great connection with people I would have never been able to meet in Las Vegas. For me I would go to these events to make any connections that would further my career. These are the following events that are currently happening or soon to come which I can attend to make that happen.

The first event is the WPPI Conference and Expo. This event is a yearly event focusing on the wedding industry which would be great for myself since weddings are a large part of my income. This years event is happening on February 25th until March 5th. Considering the current date that means that the last day to visit this event would be tomorrow. I find this a great opportunity to meet vendors and other wedding professionals especially it being the last day which means a lot of them are excited to get off work and go party. What better way to network then to do it over some alcoholic beverages.

The second events is NAB 2015 which is happening on April 11th till April 16th. This expos is a very large technology and media gathering. You can see all the main brands such as Canon, Nikon, Adobe being there. Last year I was able to work this event as a production assistant for Samsung following there London based crew as they do interviews and create recap videos for Samsung. This year hopefully I will have the same opportunity if not being able to attend the conference will be just as exciting. This event is definitely a great environment to make some great connections that might help further my career.

The third event is the Digital Signage Expo which is on March 10 till the 13th. This would be a great event because when I think of digital signs I think of motion graphics and and commercials. Going to this events I would think I would be able to meet some people that might be in the motion graphics industry or even a company that would need some motion graphics work to be create of their digital signage.

The fourth event is Cinemacon happening on April 20-23. This event is meant for movie goers and such. I find this a great event to attend is because when I think of movie goers I think of movie makers. This event would be a great source or networking to find some people who might have a important role in the movie industry or event have some great insight on whats it all about.

The fifth and final event is the Photoshop World Expo in August. Myself being a VFX and Motion Graphics major Photoshop is essential tool that I use every project to manipulate images or even create them. At this expo I think I would be able to meet some really great media professional and event find myself in on some lectures with some all time famous content creators.

EOC Week 7 - tell me about your career goals

I've always had a career goal either it was when I was little and wanted to be a pilot or during high school when I wanted to become a police officer. Over the years This question has been the main question I asked myself on what my career goal really was. It came down to what was I passionate about and what can I do everyday that will make me happy. The answer to that question was film making.

At first this wasn't the obvious choice and to be honest I never even thought about film making until recently. Now that I have came to this conclusion my answer to this question has become more narrow but still a difficult one. In film making there are a lot of different jobs and routes you can take. You can do anything from being a the person who works behind the camera and even the producer of a high end production company. The truth is that each one of these jobs don't have necessary the same route and if you I where to choose the wrong route it can really postpone the career that I wanted to achieve.

Most recently I have achieve a strong reputations locally of my talents, hard work, and reliability. Because of this I have been able to live of of working as a freelancer before the time I graduate from school. This I find is the most successful achievement I have gain. But this is just the first step into a career that I really enjoy. Because of this reputation I am able to focus into a certain area and eventually those who I usually work around me will catch on and when I apply for a position somewhere for a job that I want I will be able to use these valuable resources to obtain it easier.

Currently one of my main goals is to be apart of a local nightlife photography company called SpyOnVegas. This company is own by a very big company called Mendoh Media which is in charge of all Media related content for local casinos. Being able to join this league of talented photographers will make my transition to any other fields such as film making easier. My goals have always been realistic ones and when it comes to it my ultimate goal is to be able to be self-employed and eventually build my own production company that allows me to travel and have fun while getting paid. One of my key factors in obtaining this goal is to build great foundation so it will be nearly impossible for me to not find work and enjoy myself.

EOC Week 6: Seduction of the Online Web Surfer

First idea I have is to have image buttons underneath my demo reel that leads to more material of my work. This will make the view stay a bit longer on my page as he figure out what he wants to see and click on the images.

Second idea is to put video background that plays over and over again. This will make my page visually more appealing as to what exactly is being played in the background. Making the view stay longer on my page.

Third idea is to add a soundtrack that plays automatically so that if the view doesn't want to listen to it he will need to press pause. Resulting in him staying on my page longer.

Fourth idea is to add a section that promotes my videos and service similar to an ad. It will say something about limited deals and packages for my services. This will make the viewer eager to look at what exactly the offer is which will make them stay longer on my site.

Fifth idea is to create a image button promoting a page dedicated to tutorials that would help people learn how to film or take photos better.

EOC Week 5 How will you organize your job search time and follow up to get results?

Job searching is a time consuming thing and being organized is important. In order to use my time wise I will take the following necessary act to make sure that I will ensure that I will be successful.

First would be to create dedicated workspace for me to start my job search organized. Having a area or even a dedicated folder on your computer that has information about all the jobs that you've applied for will make my life a lot easier. Next Step I would take is to make a schedule of when I will dedicate a certain amount of time to search for jobs. This can be simple done by creating a reminder on you calendar that will alert you of that goal. Next step will be to organize my email so that it will be easy to find a certain contact about a certain job that I might be interested in. Doing this will help you easily follow up on companies so that you don't forget about them. Final step is to utilize the proper job searching tools available online and make sure I input the correct resume material that will make my resume stand out when applying to a specific area.

Another issue that that should be addressed with myself is figuring out exactly what job position that I want. By doing this it will narrow down the amount of applications you send out and will allow you to personalize you resume for that specific job. Another thing that a person should do is to create a list of companies they would like to work for. Starting out by creating a local listing and next a global listing.

Job searching I believe is something does in there life and being able to organize you process and your time spent will allow you to become successful quicker.

EOC Week 4: Devil Wears Prada - Deeper meaning

In Devils Wears Prada the deeper meaning of this film is about properly researching and preparing for a job. The main character working as an assistant for a prestigious fashion company struggles to adapt with her coworkers because she doesn't know much about the important in the fashion industry. Another deeper meaning behind the film is the fact that when your at a job you have to dress the part. How you dress is really important. Of course it not nice to judge a books by its cover but as an employee at wherever you choose to work you are a representative of what that company is all about. By dressing the part you will get more respect not only for your physical look but you dedication to that job. Another deeper meaning behind this film is knowing your job and doing research on the proper slang used among that industry. The main character when asked about certain events and items she didn't know what was being said which made her life much more difficult and also made her look foolish. This goes along way cause when a person walks into a field that they aren't familiar with it is intelligent to do their homework so that wen confronted with an obstacle they will be able handle it with a better approach and not look foolish.

Week 3 Deeper meaning of Swinger

The deeper meaning of swingers is about networking. The film goes and follows a character as he battle his struggle of being able to mingle with women and we see  him fail multiple times. Through this experience he finally meets a woman and they get along perfectly. From his failures he uses that experience and applies it. From that he was able to successful make connection with this women and they get together.

The lesson behind this is that in any situation when confronted with a opportunity to make a connection you should take that opportunity and take the initiative to make the contact. You never know what can happen and how others that you meet can get you closer to your goals.

A personal experience that I can relate is back when I first started off working in the freelance field I didn't have a business card . Even though this didn't really affected me because a lot of my work comes from referral that doesn't take away from the fact that I could have gain one or two more connections throughout this whole time that would help me further my career today. The problem I see in having a business card is that even though I get many of them I find it rare that I ever contact or get in contact with these people. More Important means of connection I believe is from social media. Everyone of these people that you meet in life has some sort of social mead outlet that they post news about. Sometime it better to reply often to these post of their so that after awhile the feel like they can trust you cause you very active in there online life. So when you decide to make contact they already like you and they feel as if you give a flying turd about their life and career.

Though having a nice business card make you first impression very professional and as if you know what your doing. Long story short swinger had a good message but their message I feel is a bit out of date for this generation.
